How do I become a responsible tourist
by acquiring
Costa Rica Card?
When you acquire Costa Rica Card you become a responsible
tourist at no extra cost for you. Costa Rica Card donates up to
20% of its annual gross revenue to the Costa Rica Card philanthropy
fund. The fund is administered by and independent board and supports
specific environmental and social projects. Costa Rica Card is currently
supporting the Osa Conservation Campaign www.osacampaign.org.
Where can I get my Costa Rica Card?
Costa Rica Card can be obtained in multiple locations
including the Juan Santa Maria International Airport (at the National
Chamber of Tourism, CANATUR , stand), Daniel Oduber International
Airport, Car rentals, Souvenirs stores, restaurants, and drugstores.
When exactly begins (ends) the validity of my
Costa Rica Card?
Costa Rica Card is delivered blank. Before you use your Costa Rica
Card for the first time, you need to fill in your name (sign in)
and the starting date. From this day on your Costa Rica Card is
valid for 3 months.
Is my Costa Rica Card transferable to other person?
Costa Rica Card is limited to personal use and it is not transferable
to others. A valid Costa Rica Card entitles the card holder to obtain
major discounts and benefits only after you show your ID at the
affiliated establishments. At the time of your departure we strongly
advice you to take your Costa Rica Card as a souvenir or to dispose
it.
How many people can use one Costa Rica Card?
It depends on the version of the card. The standard Costa Rica Card
is limited to the use of the card holder. The Dual Card is limited
to the cardholder and companion, The Family Card is limited to the
cardholder and, in the cardholder's presence, his/her husband, wife,
or companion, and his/her children up to an age of 18 years. The
Family Card covers up to six family members.
If I decide to acquire your optional insurance
policy what are the benefits?
The Insurance National Institute (INS) provides life insurance policy
for $10,000 during a period of three months, and body repatriation
expenses up to $2,000 for the same period. In the short future they
will add selected medical services to our policy for an extra fee.
Are the discounted hotel rates listed on this site per room or per
person?
All hotel rates listed are per room and night, not per person. In
most cases only double room rates are listed, however special rates
for other room types (single, suites, etc.) are available from the
hotel at request.
Do the discounted rates listed on this site include all taxes?
The rates listed on our web site do not include all taxes (unless
otherwise stated).
Can I first make my reservations and then purchase
Costa Rica Card?
Yes, you can do it but remember that our affiliated establishments require the Costa Rica Card to be shown at your arrival to the hotel.
How do I make reservations at your discounted
rates?
Once that you obtain your Costa Rica Card reservation , please contact one of our affiliated
establishments to make your reservation using the CRC purchase receipt number. The discounted rate will become effective when you show your
Costa Rica Card at the selected establishment.
Will you make reservations for me?
Sorry, we can not do it. However, you may look up any establishment
you wish to reserve in our directory of affiliated companies, where
you will find all contact details.
I will be in Costa Rica for a few days only. Is such a short stay
worth getting a Costa Rica Card?
Absolutely, yes. All our discounts are substantial, with a minimum
of 10%, however many establishments offer much higher discounts.
In most cases the 3-months version of Costa Rica Card pays off the
very first day you use it.
I live out of Costa Rica. Will you ship Costa Rica Card to my Country?
We do not ship Costa Rica Card to individuals. Your purchase
number and receipt guarantees obtaining the card in Costa Rica. We only ship the
card to major tour operators, corporations, and major groups that
require our services.
